During the day, students and teachers will share the responsibility of wiping down contact surfaces in their pods that include but are not limited to :
- door knobs
- light switches
- other contact surfaces inside their pod.
Commonly touched items such as door handles, railings, fixtures, etc. will be scheduled for disinfecting by Tabernacle staff several times throughout the day.
Hand-washing will be taught at the lower grades and encouraged in all grades throughout the day. Students will be instructed to wash hands before and after eating, after using the restroom, and after playing outside. All classrooms will be equipped with hand sanitizer and paper towels. Based on current findings by the FDA, Tabernacle has checked all hand sanitizers on campus to ensure that they are safe. Staff has been educated about what to look for when purchasing their own hand sanitizer and have been given appropriate resources including the comprehensive list provided by the FDA . Tabernacle school will be providing hand sanitizers to all staff for student use.
Doors and windows will be kept open as much as possible to provide air circulation.
All personal items brought to school by a student or staff member must be disinfected daily. All personal items must be labeled with the student’s name. No personal items, including school supplies, may be shared. Taber- nacle believes that an essential component of high quality education that engages the learner is through the use of manipulatives. All manipulatives used by students during a lesson will be thoroughly disinfected after each use.
An increased amount of digital curriculum and instruction will be used by teachers balanced with in class teaching and activities to decrease the spread of germs in a classroom area.
Restroom schedules and cleanings have been staggered and spaced out as much as possible. Tabernacle has restroom procedures in place to maintain social distancing and proper hand washing.
When notified of a positive case on campus, the administrative team will contact the health department and begin to trace the person’s movement on campus. All affected areas will be secured and sanitized following the deep sanitation protocol.
