Communication Plans

Communication is Essential:

The Student Care Office will be the liaison responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns. Laurie Pease will be trained to coordinate the documentation and tracking of possible exposure and responsible for notifying local health officials, staff and families in a prompt and responsible manner. Lisa Mazzoncini and Rebeca Shreve will be on this team.

The Student Care Office will maintain the communication systems that allow staff and families to self-report symptoms and receive prompt notifications of exposures and closures, while maintaining confidentiality.

The Student Care Office will consult with local health departments and schedule routine testing through local providers for all staff. Staff will be tested once every two months.

When there is a confirmation of a positive Covid-19 test result, a parent or staff member will notify the principal. The principal will notify the administrative team and one of the Covid designated team members will alert anyone who has come into direct contact with the individual. All school families and staff will also be notified that there is a confirmed case within the school. The identity of the person will not be communicated.

Administration will contact the local public health department and decide whether school closure is warranted, including the length of time necessary, based on the risk level within the specific community as determined by the local public health officer. (CDC requirements will be followed in all cases.) All families will have the option of keeping their child at home or switching to distance learning after we reopen for as long as they feel necessary. Tabernacle’s priority is to keep students, families, and staff safe.

Any individual who tests positive for Covid-19 should follow the recommendations of their healthcare provider for isolation protocol. They should also notify the school. The pod that the individual was in will be required to close for a minimum of 2 days.

Reopening the class/school: The CDC and/or local health policies will be followed and current procedures will be communicated to families at such time.

On-Campus Contact Tracing System:

Tabernacle is working with the Contra Costa Health Department to conduct contact tracing. When notified of a positive case on campus, the administrative team will contact the health department and begin to trace the person’s movement on campus. All affected areas will be secured and sanitized following the deep sanitation protocol. All individuals that came into contact with the infected person will be notified by phone and email as soon as possible.
