A World of Electives: Fun and Learning This Quarter

Imagine a class where you can play baseball without getting sunburned on the field, create something three-dimensional, take photos for an article you’re writing, or even personalize your belongings with the help of a cutting machine. Good news—there’s no need to imagine! These opportunities are all part of our exciting electives at Tabernacle.

In Mr. Prior’s 3D Printing Elective, students bring their ideas to life by designing objects in Tinkercad and learning how to transfer their creations into 3D printing software. The best part? Watching your digital designs become real, tangible objects.

In the Cricut Elective, taught by Mrs. Schmitz, students explore the Cricut Design Space program and practice working with different types of vinyl. With these skills, they can personalize their belongings—decorating bags, shirts, and more with their unique designs.

If you’re a baseball fan, Mr. Souza’s Baseball Strategy and Statistics Elective is a home run. Using the board game Strat-O-Matic Baseball, students take on the role of a Major League team manager, making decisions, analyzing statistics, and learning strategy—all without ever stepping onto the field.

Finally, in the Print and Press Elective, also led by Mrs. Schmitz, students work as a team to create a school newsletter. They learn the basics of journalism, sharpen their writing, and practice photography by capturing moments around campus to bring their stories to life.

Other electives offered this quarter include Aviation, Study Hall, Teacher’s Assistant (TA), Creative Writing, Rock Band, Escape Room Masters, Intro to Spanish, and Speech, giving students a wide variety of ways to explore their interests, try new skills, and have fun.
