Middle School Service Hours are an amazing opportunity for skill development and personal growth—not just a school requirement!
The service hour program was introduced by Mr. Keough, our middle school Bible teacher, and it applies only to our middle school students.
The number of required hours differs by grade level:
- 6th grade: 6 hours
- 7th grade: 8 hours
- 8th grade: 12 hours
These hours can be completed at a church, in the community, at school, or another approved location. Some examples of service activities include:
- Offering to clean up for a teacher
- Mowing a neighbor’s yard
- Serving or helping out at a local church or youth group
- Volunteering at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter
Remember, these hours must be volunteered—not paid. There are even opportunities to earn service hours right here at school! For example, the annual Welcome Back BBQ & Ice Cream Social is a great event to get involved and earn hours.
To receive credit, your service form must be signed by the adult who supervised you. It should include the date, number of hours worked, a description of the project, and the supervisor’s signature.
Example:
Service Project: Mowed Lawn
Date: 8/25/25
Amount of Hours: 2
Name of Adult who supervised (with their signature): Mrs. Jane Doe
Completed service hour forms for the first semester are due by Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Good luck—and happy serving!
